During his tour to North-Eastern (NE) India, where the Chief Ministers of all the 8 states were present, Amit Shah mentioned about the tourism industry as the catalyst for economic boom. He said that each of the state offers a tourist package, which doesn’t benefit much as much a consolidated package of the NE India would be able to bring. He suggested that if all the states come together to create a tourism package that will offer a wholesome outlook for this region, then people would get to know more, even the foreign tourists can be attracted with this strategy. People would get to know about the natural and scenic beauty of the place. The flora and fauna of the states should be promoted. Curiosity can be raised in the people of India and outside. This package could range from a two-day travel plan to ten or more days of travel plan. The amount earned can get divided between the states. This will grab a lot of attention for NE India. Till 80s Kerala wasn’t prominent on the tourism map of India as much as it is now. Hearing about this, Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel has started working on different tactics to make this vision a success for NE India.
