Probably during UPA -2 Congress started losing its grip on governance. Leaders distanced themselves from common people, sources say a change in attitudes marked the difference and inspite of many good and people welfare schemes could not face the onslaught of the then opposition leaders. Continued defeats in elections in state and parliamentary elections seems not taken by the leaders of Congress and sources say still fighting with eachother inspite of putting strong opposition to the ruling party for betterment of general public. Congress leadership fighting with indiscipline party workers and leaders. Local leaders stopped taking stand keeping national interest at top and sometimes go against  party line for local or for their ambitions. Congress party has taken stand against the governments but the state chief of Tripura openly opposed party stand and supported government stand. Matter has been brought to noticed of Working President.Source say inspite of talking by Working President over phone to desist, the state chief prefers to quit the post instead of stand. Such uncontrolled leadership probably not help the Congress to rejuvenate soon unless all thinks on same wavelength?
