Petrol is touching one hundred rupees approximately for one litre. The public is in a fix what to do because the affect of price hike of petroleum products is enormous. Almost the price of every item of public consumption in general gone to the sky. The government also probably realised the misery of the public and sources say the minister of Petroleum has gone on record to bring petroleum products also under GST. Sources say efforts are being made to convince the authorities concerned to take this also in their gambit but this is not so simple because if it goes under GST government will lose heavily. Sources say that the international market cost of one litre is approximately rupees thirty only and after adding handling charges and commission of petrol pumps it will be approximately thirty-five rupees and the slab of twenty-eight per cent is taken the price will forty-four rupees eighty paise only. Sources say if fifty per cent cess of the central government is added even though the price will be approximately forty-nine rupees seventy paise almost half of the present cost. But by going the budget where the government has projected collection of approximate rupees three lakh sixty thousand crores, not looks very positive in favour of public and the price likely not remain same or of the similar level by curbing some or other way to meet government expenditures?
