After the resignation of Anil Deshmukh, Patil, a very strong supporter of Sharad Pawar has taken over as Home Minister of Maharashtra. Sources say the reputation of Patil is as a troubleshooter and probably he has been given charge to regain the lost glory of Maharashtra Police and Mumbai Police. Before this assignment, he was handling Finance, Power, Medical, and Higher education. Sources say though Pawar is not holding any official post he is having great clouts in the present government and all the decisions bear his stamp.
