President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice DY Chandrachud as the 50th Chief Justice of India (CJI), Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Monday. Justice Chandrachud will assume charge on November 9, 2022, and will have a tenure of about two years as CJI until his retirement on November 11, 2024.
