South Block's desperation of making Praveen Sinha as next CBI director now seems to be going nowhere, top sources say. Despite being number two in CBI, Sinha enjoyed the charm of being number one in CBI, top sources say. A series of extensions to Sinha enabled him to master his skills in Interpol affairs. Top sources say that considering that to some extent, Sinha got exposure to the International security landscape specifically to transnational organized crimes and a bit of terrorism which makes him a deserving candidate for the job of Deputy NSA. If we look at the NSA's team mix- one IFS(China specialist)- IPS, former R&AW Chief and Pakistan specialist, Military Advisor(DIA Chief), and one more IPS belonging to security terrain either from IB or some other security related verticle. Though, this mix may change. At present, there is one vacancy of an IPS officer(either serving or retired). Top sources say that after Sinha retires in a few months, he may get the job of Deputy NSA. However, some IB men are also lobbying for it once they retire, sources say.
