Back in the early 2000s, the Intelligence Bureau had an eagle eye watch by their director, Nehchal Sandhu, the former IB Chief who had a quite dominating influence in the tradecraft and in the agency as well, perhaps keeping everyone on their toes. The present scenario in the Intelligence Bureau seems to give the same smell of the early 2000s. According to top sources, it has been learned that the present Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Tapan Deka, is tightening its grip over its echelons. Sources add that DIB has likely pinned the powers of one Special Director in the agency. The reasons are not known, top sources suggest there were some circumstances which necessitated DIB to take a hard call on the Special Director. Such actions in the Intelligence Bureau are very rare and surprising, where DIB was forced to take the sword out. It won't be incorrect to say that Deka might have reflected Sandhu's demeanour as Deka is the second DIB after Sandhu, who is from the Operation Desk of IB, sources say. Whatever maybe the case, such developments, if true, then heavy and tight rejigging in the Intelligence Bureau in the recent past stand on the merit, power corridor discussed.
