Y.V.V.J fRajshekhar, IAS officer and Special Secretary of Vigilance in the Delhi Government, has been a popular bureaucrat and an eyesore for many in power corridors. Perhaps Rajshekhar's eagle's watch and uncompromising attitude in dealing with some so-called hawks of the Delhi Government had put him in the eye of the storm. The environment in the Delhi government requires time-to-time course correction to maintain the balance of power, which often gets disturbed by narrow politics by some bureaucrats who often enjoy a small lining of patronages. The May incident and developments post Supreme Court judgement on GNCTD powers have seriously impacted the transparency of ongoing enquiries conducted under Rajshekhar's supervision. The balance of power was in a capricious position at one end, and on the other hand, it seemed that Rajshekhar was on the verge of facing the final blow. However, tides miraculously changed and enabled Rajshakar to maintain once again the balance of power in the Delhi Government, which was locked from two political fronts. As Rajshekar moved the wheels of power balance, he again got himself in between of politico-bureaucratic storm, but despite all odds he faced, he continued to maintain the balance of power by cleaning the corrupt and so-called hawks of the Delhi Government. The clean chit to Rajshekhar is an indication and learning for many bureaucrats that given the evolving politico-bureaucratic landscape, endurance and the need for power balance are two key fundamentals that are essential for every bureaucrat to arm an effective dettarance against corruption and hawkish politics.
