After the first round of DG appointments, which saw the appointments(regularization) of CISF DG and CRPF DG and the appointment of DG Fire Services, though minimal adjustments were made in the first round of DG appointments, this perhaps be less likely in the second round of DG appointments. Posts that are to be filled in the second round are DG NIA, DG NSG, DG BPR&D, DG SSB, Director NPA and DG(Investigation) NHRC. Top sources say that the 1990-1991 batch will dominate the race for a few top assignments, which include DG NIA, and NSG, whereas the 1989 batch and a few of the 1990 batch may get the rest slot of NPA, SSB, BPR&D and NHRC. The chances of extension or additional charge seem to be only valid in the case of NIA DG for obvious reasons(elections), but the frontrunner for the next DG NIA seems to be in a bright position, and if the frontrunner gets the post, then one 1990 batch might move out of NIA. It has been said that the second round of DG appointments may begin post-Republic Day, covering SSB DG, Director NPA and DG(Investigation) NHRC.
