After Nitin Agarwal's abrupt departure, North Block is said to be adopting a more strategic approach in appointing CAPF heads. Top sources suggest that MHA's parachute method, especially for IB Special Directors, may be re-evaluated. The issue with parachuted officers, as sources point out, is their acclimatization temperament. Unlike IB's Special Directors, who make decisions based on static assessments, a hardcore CAPF or experienced IPS officer operates with a dynamic assessment guided by operational and foresighted temperament.

This potential shift in the appointment process could bring about a more effective and forward-thinking leadership in CAPF. Even those who have not been parachuted, like Nitin Agarwal, who worked in CRPF and moved to BSF, also require inter-agency coordination skills. This refers to the ability of an officer to effectively collaborate and communicate with other agencies, familiarize themselves with the operational temperament of the force, which includes the practical and strategic approach to operations, and absorb the changing dynamics. Top sources add that top brass are now considering a reshuffle of a few CAPF heads, evaluating their performance and future challenges. It has been said that a few new appointments will be made in CAPF, and a few of them will be either shifted or moved to some other position, like Secretary Security , NCB DG and DG BCAS, which are due to become vacant in a few months and Special Secretary Security which will fall vacant in December.
