In an intriguing turn of events, it has been revealed from reliable sources that Ashish Gupta IPS: UP: 1989, after a two-year hiatus following his premature return from NATGRID, is now vying for a central deputation at the DG level. While the odds of Gupta securing a high-level post in the centre seem slim, the top post at BCAS is not entirely out of reach. Trailing Gupta is, Sanjay Singhal IPS UP: 1993 batch is also in the race, seeking a DG level post in the centre. Interestingly, Ajay Bhatnagar who is presently DG Investigation NHRC is scheduled to retire next month has opened another option for these two UP cadre officers.
