BUREAURCRACY

In a significant development, the MHA issued an order that has sparked discussions in the power corridors, particularly within the CRPF. The late-night appointment of senior IPS Sunil Kumar Jha IPS: BH: 1993 as Special DG CRPF has been a major talking point. The decision to bring Jha to Delhi, a place where his batchmate is already at the helm, has sparked discussions about the potential implications for the future leadership of the CRPF.
However, top sources indicate that the possibility of Jha being projected as the new successor in CRPF is slim. Instead, they suggest that the stage may have been set for Jha a week after Vitul Kumar took on additional charge in CRPF. 'North Block does not want to waste time familiarizing an officer considering the current security dynamics. If they want to find a successor, they will search for an officer who already has strong credentials,' the source said. As for Jha, he had plump posting experience in the state government only with limited hands-on experience in the centre, especially with strategic security posting," a top source said
A top source added, "A DG empanelled officer could be shifted to various posts, but placing him at an equivalent post, that too under his batchmate, is quite surprising." Sources say that the state government has been doing rounds to send him out, and placing him below his batchmate Vitul Kumar is not an opportunity to succeed him but the government's way of teaching some lessons, as it did with many bureaucrats, especially IPS officers, with whom they were not able to get along.
