In a significant development, it has been learned that the state government has sent an extension proposal for Karnataka DGP Alok Mohan to the centre. Mohan is scheduled to retire next month i.e 30th April 2025. Sources say that a four-month extension is likely to be given to DGP if the centre green-lights the state government's extension proposal. Interestingly, if Mohan gets an extension, he will become the first DGP of the state to secure an extension. Sources add that a possible extension will impact DGP's succession line by possibly delaying frontrunner Alok Kumar's promotion to DGP rank in the state.
