The Prime Minister's Office is set to make way for one more top administrator in its office. Top sources say former Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba is almost set to join Prime Minister's Office soon. Sources add that top brass has nearly considered Gauba's name for PMO; it has been said Gauba is most likely to be inducted at the Principal Secretary or Principal Advisor level as the recent entrant Shaktikanta Das is two years senior to him.

Sources also add to the possibility of a Principal Advisor looking after two advisors, Amit Khare and Tarun Kapoor. If Gauba enters into a PMO, then it would mean that the PMO is upgrading its administrative reach, which will help the PMO make more thorough and strategic policy decisions. "Rajiv Gauba and Shaktikanta Das are specialist bureaucrats. One is a specialist in economics, and the other is a specialist in policy formulation and administrative skills," a top source said. With this expected induction, PMO sets the stage for long-term administrative and policy goals and sends a silent message to power corridors that top bosses value bureaucrats with velvet gloves.
