The leader of group 23 was sure to get the nomination for Rajya Sabha from Tamilnadu as the supporting ruling party of Congress was assured at the time of seat distribution for one seat but at last Tamilnadu's ruling party nominated two leaders of DMK. Though Azad is on record that he will get position only after elections of the upper house of Jammu & Kashmir. P Chidambaram another senior leader of the Congress party who is in Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra likely to get a nomination on the seat, sources say. DMK and associates parties are likely to win two seats and with this, the number of seats will increase and the party will become the fourth largest party in the Rajya Sabha?
