Western UP is having a concentration of Jat community. Jats are affluent and depend on sugarcane’s crop sources say. From the beginning Late Chaudhary Charan Singh remained the undisputed leader of the community, later leadership came on Late Ajit Singh and now on Jayant Chaudhary. RLD has gone in alliance with SP in hope that Muslims will support RLD candidates and a combination of Jat, Muslims, Ahirs(Yadav), Gurjar, and Rajput likely to overcome the setback of 1987 and 1989. Voters of the western UP switched over to BJP after the 2013 riots sources say Muslim voters and Jat voters separated and BJP took control of the situation and won the elections. Kissan agitation has changed the mood of voters of the area and they feel cheated though the government has withdrawn the act price rise, escalated electricity bills, petrol/ diesel cost are some important factors affected the mass sources say. Bagapat, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Meerut,Bijnor, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Agra, and Muradabad districts are having a considerable population of Jats and influence the election results sources say the Rampur, Amroha, Saharanpur, and Gautam Buddha Nagar districts are also having some Jats able to change the scenario sources say. Considering the effect of Jat on results probably the top leadership has offered RLD leader to the alliance with BJP. Sources say this shows that in spite of best efforts by the BJP leadership to bring back the Jat support has not yielded any positive results and if so the outcome in coming elections going for polls in the first and second phase likely to be very interesting?
