Jai Shankar To Contest Rajya Sabha From West Bengal

The bureaucrat turned politician is completing his first tenure of Rajya Sabha representing Gujarat in August. Probably he will get another chance from the West Bengal source says. BJP will comfortably win one seat out of seven seats due to present strength in the assembly source says. Two intellectuals Swapn Das Gupta, ex-Rajya Sabha member and renowned columnist and Dr Anirban Ganguli, Hony Director of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation source say. BJP wants to nominate one intellectual from West Bengal and all the three present in the race are known intellectuals source says. Rumours also float that the stint of Rajya Sabha for Jaishankar will be for a brief period and later he is likely to contest Lok Sabha from his home state Tamilnadu or on one of seven seats of Delhi source says.
