As JDU(U) prepares for the 2024 elections, it seems that there is an attempt to project Nitish Kumar in the bigger picture, perhaps, equivalent to centre face, top sources say. In the light of the recent approval of Parliament on the Women Reservation Bill, Nitish Kumar seems to showcase his government's achievement in empowering women while arguing in favour of caste based census, top sources say. Bihar's Chief Minister started with his 2006's decision of 50 percent reservation to Women in Panchayati Raj institutions and then, in 2007, provided 50 per cent reservation to women in urban areas. Kumar went on and emphasised on 50 percent reservation to women in Basic education and 2016's decision to provide 35 per cent reservation to women in government jobs. As he counts his achievements, he meanwhile argued on the need for reservation issues for backward classes, top sources say.
