The internal surveys conducted by sympathetic organizations within the BJP paint a concerning picture following the elections in Maharashtra. The high command is troubled by these reports, despite their efforts to oversee and manage the elections. The escalating animosity between the ruling alliance and the opposition, accompanied by public accusations of corruption, is adding to the party's challenges according to sources. Additionally, leaders who had defected to the BJP are now seeking to return to their original parties, as indicated by Chagan Bhujwal's efforts to rejoin the NCP and Ashok Chavan's exploration of rejoining the Congress source says. It is evident that these developments are not favourable for the BJP, and the party will need to work diligently to maintain power following the elections. Moreover, there is a growing sentiment that a Dalit or OBC leader is needed to unify the party, which presents an additional challenge as the BJP currently relies on only one reliable leader, Fadnavis, who belongs to the Brahmin community source says.
