Opposition Parties Are Planning To Bring Impeachment Motion?

The I.N.D.I.A. block in the Rajya Sabha is deeply concerned about the alleged biased behavior of the Chairman during the session. It is reported that the block, along with other parties, is considering bringing an impeachment motion against the Chairman under rule 67 (B). At present, 87 members have reportedly signed in support of this motion. Although the block acknowledges the likelihood of the motion being defeated due to the current numbers in both houses, they believe that it will highlight the treatment of members in the house to the public. The live debate is expected to reveal previously undisclosed actions of the Chairman and provide an opportunity for self-reflection on his impartiality as the head of the upper house source says. Reports suggest that the Chairman is reaching out to senior leaders in an attempt to persuade them, as he is aware that if the motion passes in both houses, he will have to vacate his position. Additionally, the impeachment is seen as a tarnishing mark for the chairman and would hold historical significance if successful source says.
