Once considered one of the most powerful political families in Chhattisgarh, the Jogi family has largely disappeared from the political scene in recent years. However, with a renewed effort to gain visibility through their regional party, the JCC-J (Janta Congress Chhattisgarh), they now appear poised to take a significant step by merging with the Congress party source says. This development reportedly stems from a recent telephonic conversation with Sonia Gandhi, according to reliable sources. The Jogi family has had a tumultuous relationship with key figures in the state, particularly Bhupesh Baghel, the former Chief Minister, and T.S. Singh Deo, the former Deputy Chief Minister. Following a disheartening defeat in the last assembly elections, both have seen their political relevance diminish considerably. Sources suggest that Baghel is currently entangled in numerous legal challenges, diverting his attention away from party affairs. In this shifting landscape, Deepak Baije, the state president of the Congress party, has reportedly played a pivotal role in facilitating the merger talks. The influence of Renu Jogi, Ajit Jogi's wife, along with their son Amit Jogi, remains significant, particularly within the Adivasi communities, where Ajit Jogi previously held considerable sway source says. The integration of their political clout into the Congress party could bolster its chances of regaining power in the state, according to sources.
