Recent reports indicate that following his re-election for a second term, Donald Trump intends to implement policies that may result in the deportation of nearly 1.5 million immigrants from the United States. These individuals have been living in the country without legal status for many years source says. The U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been diligently compiling a list of these individuals, with the initial list highlighting approximately 150,000 people slated for deportation as early as the start of the coming year source says.

Alarmingly, among those identified, 17,940 are Indian nationals. The affected individuals predominantly hail from the states of Gujarat, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh source says. Over the past three years, there have been nearly 90,000 arrests of Indians attempting to enter the U.S. unlawfully, with a significant number originating from Gujarat. The gravity of the situation is heightened by the statistic that nearly half of the total population facing deportation is from India, underscoring the profound impact these changes may have on the Indian community in the United States source says.
