The process of ticket distribution within the BJP has come under scrutiny, as many believe it is not conducted with the necessary fairness and inclusiveness. Despite the party's frequent claims of supporting the Purvanchali community in Delhi, on the ground, there seems to be a significant oversight regarding the local leaders from these areas. Sources indicate that Purvanchalis make up approximately 25% of Delhi's total population, which translates to a significant demographic presence source says. Out of the 70 assembly seats in Delhi, the Purvanchali community has a notable influence over 29 constituencies. Furthermore, 15 of these constituencies boast over 50% Purvanchali voters.
However, it has been reported that the BJP has allocated only 5 tickets in these crucial areas. In contrast, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has recognized the potential of this demographic and has allocated 12 tickets to Purvanchali candidates, which analysts suggest could give AAP a strategic advantage in the upcoming elections. This disparity in ticket distribution might reflect a larger issue within the BJP's approach to engaging with the Purvanchali voters, raising questions about the party's commitment to this influential community source says.
