The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is considering incorporating more Dalit leaders into its ranks due to concerns raised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) regarding the potential loss of support from Dalit voterssource says. Historically, the backing of these voters has been instrumental in propelling the BJP to its current position of power. However, there is a growing perception that the party is not adequately supporting emerging Dalit leaders and continues to rely on established coalition partners and long-standing figures source adds. This approach has stifled the growth of new talent, allowing opposition parties to seize the opportunity to attract fresh faces and ideas. According to sources, the RSS is keenly aware of these dynamics and is advocating for the BJP to open its doors to new talent.
They have reportedly provided a list of around thirty promising young Dalit leaders who have the potential to make significant contributions to electoral politics, beyond merely fulfilling roles within the party's organizational structure. The RSS asserts that without the infusion of this new talent, maintaining current electoral successes may become increasingly difficult. Additionally, the RSS is believed to be advising the BJP’s leadership to explore the possibility of merging smaller regional parties led by Dalit leaders. By doing so, these leaders could contest elections under the BJP banner in the future, thereby strengthening the party’s appeal within the Dalit community and ensuring a more inclusive political strategy moving forward source says.
