The recent wave of criticisms directed at the Congress party, coupled with calls from the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to dissolve the I.N.D.I.A. coalition, has sparked significant backlash from party members and senior leadership source says. This has led to concerns that Umer Abdulla may be aligning himself too closely with the BJP. In what appears to be a move to counter these perceptions, he has decided to remove Hina Shafi Bhat, the sole female representative of the BJP in the valley, from her position on the state Khadi Gramodyog board source says. Hina Shafi Bhat, despite having lost in the recent elections, is a prominent figure within the BJP and enjoys a solid reputation in the region.

She was appointed to the board by Manoj Sinha before the elections, highlighting her significance in the BJP’s local structure. Abdulla's decision to act against her presence on the board is viewed as a corrective measure aimed at reaffirming his commitment to his party and dispelling any notions of favouritism towards the BJP source says. This situation underscores the tensions and dynamics at play within Jammu and Kashmir's political landscape as leaders navigate their alliances and public perceptions.
