Chirag Paswan, a central minister and son of the late Ramvilas Paswan, leads the LJP (Ramvilas faction) and is currently navigating a complex political landscape. In the 2020 state elections, despite being allied with the BJP, he contested 137 seats but secured only one source says. Recognizing the importance of strengthening his position within the political arena, Chirag understands that demonstrating electoral viability is crucial for enhancing his bargaining power in coming elections source says. For some time, he has been focused on the Alauli assembly seat, however, his uncle announced that his son, Yash Paswan, would contest from that seat, prompting Chirag to seek alternative options. He has identified the reserved seat of Sikandara in Jamuai as a potential constituency for his candidacy, even though the seat is currently held by HAM leader Praful Manjhi source says.

Given that HAM is a partner within the NDA, the dynamics of the arrangement with the BJP will need careful consideration. Chirag Paswan is aiming to contest 42 seats, however, the BJP is likely to allocate him a lesser range of 20-25 seats, understanding that the support of LJP alone may not be sufficient for achieving a majority. Moreover, with approximately 20% of Bihar's Dalit population divided, and only around 3.5% of Paswans and Dusads aligned with him, it is clear that the BJP will need to cultivate alliances with other political entities. Consequently, making decisions regarding the distribution of seats among these parties presents a complex challenge source says.
