The defeat in the Naupara bye-election has further demoralised the party cadre. The revolt is aggrieved after one of the senior leaders and Rajya Sabha member from the party, and former chief of the senior citizens' cell, resigned and charged that the party has insulted him and also that party leaders had also instigated other leaders to insult him, sources say. The BJD ruled the state for 20 years and party leaders and cadre have more or less become lethargic and lost contact with the public in the state and without power they are not getting their work done which ultimately demoralises them source says. The one and only leader at the top, Naveen Patnaik is now 79 years and his reflexes and dynamism are also affected by age factors but he does not have any other leader on whom he can believe, trust and hand over the responsibility source says.
The cadre is also accustomed to power and to work in the field for them is a little difficult source says. This has probably resulted even securing the third position in the bye election, according to a Congress source. The BJP has won the seat with a huge margin source says. The revolt is also because the party cadres do not see any future for the party in the coming years source says.
