It is believed that the appointment of the Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman happened with the advice of former Finance Minister of India Arun Jaitley. The day prior to her oath taking ceremony PM Modi met Jaitley and offered him a ministerial position, which Jaitley cleared declined. Jaitley, then, suggested Ms. Sitharaman’s name for the same. She is a post-graduate and M.Phil degree holder in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
