Vaccination started but the politicians not more than five thousand are not getting the vaccine. Sources say the government has announced that in first batch only front line workers and medical staff are to be vaccinated. As per rough calculations, the figure is approximately three crores and if all are vaccinated approximately six crores vaccine are required plus ten per cent wastage to counter the loss of vaccine during transportation etc. Government has also announced that the next priority will be of persons above fifty years of age and also persons having serious problems. This combined figure will be around twenty-seven crores sources say both covishield and covaxin after the interference of government has resolved their differences and production of vaccine is on top gear, sources say. The European Union has purchased the serum vaccine at the rate of rupees one hundred fifty-nine per vaccine as stated by budget minister of Belgium whereas the government of the country probably is procuring at the rate of rupees two hundred per vaccine and also mentioned twenty points of side effects of vaccine sources say. Government of India has not given choice to select vaccine for use to the public.
