The recent passing of Sitaram Yechury marks the end of an era in Indian politics. Yechuri, a prominent Communist leader, was known for his unwavering commitment to advocating for the oppressed and marginalized sections of society. He rose to prominence as the president of the JNU student union and fearlessly challenged authority, notably calling for Indira Gandhi to step down from the Chancellor's seat. Hailing from a Telugu Brahmin background, Yechuri was widely respected for his integrity and dedication to his principles. Throughout his tenure as General Secretary of the CPM, he remained a vocal advocate for the underprivileged, often bringing their concerns to the forefront of political discourse. Despite his passing due to pneumonia, Yechury' legacy lives on through his family's decision to donate his body to AIIMS, reflecting his commitment to serving the greater good. He will be remembered for his dignified approach to politics and his refusal to resort to personal attacks against his opponents.
